BRUSSELS - Croatian MEP Ivan Jakovčić attended yesterday the initiative of Istvan Ujhelyi, who is organizing events on the occasion of the European Union-China Tourism Year.

- I have appealed to Chinese businessmen to include Croatia in European travel. Through the Ujhelyi's business and political ties I intend to better connect with Chinese businessmen, Jakovčić said in a short statement for SEEbiz.

Such initiatives are certainly welcome in the context of the greater arrival of Chinese tourists to Croatia.

The trend is positive. In 2017, Croatia saw 160,081 Chinese tourists, which is 56.5 percent more than a year earlier. Last year, they had 236,811 overnights, which is 48.3 percent more than in 2016. If we also get arrivals from Hong Kong and Macau, we come to the figure of over 193,000 Chinese tourists who visited Croatia last year.
